We are still diving slowly in telecommunication engineering, after having a tiny idea about some concepts in the second year, you are ready to move on for more complex subjects. keep in mind that math and physics are something intuitive to find them while you are in engineering field.
Wire telecommunication
Wires are responsible to transfer signals from source to destination. and old phone generation is still working and depending on this kind of media to carry messages between sender and receiver. where the mic pick the sound and translate it into electrical waves then a filtering step to reduce any catched noise and enhance the signals as well.
the final goal for that signals is receive's speaker and the mission has done.
Wireless telecommunication
It is so simple to accept wireless concept these days, this way to send and receive a signal is a little bit complected more than wire telecom. Here we need many steps to assure our message will delivered, sometimes we change the amplitude the signal to a special modulation and compare it with frequency modulation or with width pulse modulation to finally get the high gain for this system on two sides receiver and sender. Bluetooth and IR both are a simple example for earlier wireless Apps.
Modeling and simulation of telecom circuits
This subject focuses more on making a relation between real hard components and software to build formula, that simulates behavior could hard component follow with each try. This procedure helps avoiding many real tries to conclude total respond.
Matlab is one of common software that gives good idea of total simulation.
Electronic measurements
Telecom engineers need different tools to collect information whether they were in workplace or other different places. voltage, current, power, noise , radiation ....etc, all these parameters are worth to pick with accurate values. So, in this subject we will have a chance to have a close look how these measurement devices are designed and how sub divisions are generated and so on.
Electronic circuits design
Simple and complex circuit boards start with basics in electronic field and using different software Apps to simulate real items with virtual ones. Proteus has huge libraries and tools to help get circuits done.
Microprocessor and microcontroller
Home appliances and more complex devices have a special chip to manage their functions, this chip is a mircrocontoller that has very tiny pieces in it those we usually use microscope to see them.it also has a memory to held a dedicated software that is responsible telling hardware what they should do in different slot of time. In the same logic the computer's processor has been doing his job.
Operating system
What is it running our computers and tell them what to do? that could be either a piece of code or a huge number of instruction rows. In a special programming language: C/C++/Java ......etc. That is an simple definition of operating system and we are still living with great examples: Microsoft , Linux and Mac.
Advanced programming languages
Matlab again will be the hero of this subject, it focuses on matrix and all operation could apply on it. Matrix is an essential part of images processing and modeling systems. so, with Matlab we can see how these systems can behave and help to expecting results.
Electrical power systems
It starts with old methods to generate electricity and moves on to newest one, then how to transfer this power from the source til get its destination, house's customer, a big factory or a government building
The last step is how to design a total consumption for a building and choose the right gauge for cables and the right value for circuit breaker.
Sound system Applications
Which system do you prefer to build in your house? To design the system you should have some background of sound waves , noise decibel, different types of speakers and formula to choose the right distance between sound's hardware elements.
Industry safety and economic engineering
Each field of industry has strict rules for staying safe and protect yourself, wearing special cloths, avoiding high places and maybe you will play the monitor role for construction position. so, It is so important for an engineer's background to know all these things intuitively. The second part of this subject gives an idea how should an engineer makes a good study for his project before moving on to real life. I meant estimating the whole budget, expecting any threats, is it worth to waste time in this project or not, how many years can this building stand before get demolished and so on.
